Scylla and Charybdis lockdir - Tools

The tools are developed under Linux with ESR's paradigm release early, release often in mind.
So you can consider this beta software, or alpha, or pre-alpha, or even worse ;)

As always here, all you get is the source. No binaries here.

lockdir 0.0.0-20080803-234403

Create a directory for locking purpose (look into latest version, download latest version 0.0.0-20080803-234403, sig)

This does not create a lockfile, it creates a lockdir. While it waits it presents you with a waiting indicator. Returns true if successful, false otherwise. You can give a maximum waiting time. If this time is reached the lockdir is removed via rmdir. (This can fail, by purpose.)
